Latin American authors explore themes of loss and identity in new works

Contemporary Latin American authors Fernanda Trías and Elaine Vilar Madruga are highlighting new literary works exploring themes of loss, identity, and social control.

Fernanda Trías, participating in the Lima Book Fair, discussed her book ‘Miembro Fantasma’ (Editorial Páginas de Espuma). The collection of ten stories uses the metaphor of phantom limb syndrome to examine how humans process grief, memory, and the resistance to accepting loss.

Cuban author Elaine Vilar Madruga has released her novel ‘La piel hembra’. The work follows a complex saga of disconnected families and explores themes of fanaticism, violence, and the control of female bodies within a community reacting to a perceived miracle.
