Latin American aviation and tourism trends show mixed results in Argentina and Mexico

Recent aviation and tourism data from Argentina and Mexico show diverging trends in passenger volume and spending.

In Argentina, August data from the National Civil Aviation Administration (ANAC) indicates an 8% year-on-year decline in domestic passenger traffic, totaling 1,395,670 travelers. This marks a continuing downward trend in domestic travel, which has fallen every month since February. Conversely, international passenger traffic saw a 2% increase. Total air traffic, combining both sectors, fell by 3% compared to the previous year. Aeroparque remained the busiest airport in the country.

In Mexico, INEGI reported that international tourist arrivals rose by 3.8% in July, reaching 4.41 million people. However, total spending by these international travelers decreased by 1.3%, falling to approximately 2,961.3 million dollars. While border tourism saw significant growth of 13.2%, non-border arrivals declined by 3.2%, with air-based arrivals specifically dropping by 5.7%. The United States remains the primary source market for non-border travelers, accounting for 72% of that group.
