Latin American education faces proficiency and dropout challenges

Reports highlight significant educational challenges across Latin America. In Argentina, a study by the NGO Argentinos por la Educación reveals that while 94% of students entering first grade reach sixth grade on time without repeating or dropping out, only 50% achieve satisfactory proficiency in Language and Mathematics simultaneously. The report notes that the highest performance levels are found in CABA (73%), Córdoba (62%), and Buenos Aires (55%), while difficulties are most concentrated in Mathematics.

On a regional scale, UNESCO data indicates that nearly 10 million children and adolescents in Latin America and the Caribbean are outside the school system, and only 63% of youth in the region complete secondary education. Additionally, one in two 15-year-old students in the region fails to reach minimum reading competency levels. In response to these trends, companies like Epson are exploring educational technology, such as interactive projection, to improve classroom engagement and combat school dropout rates.
