Santa Fe Honey Cooperatives Form Export Group to Boost International Sales
A coalition of four beekeeping cooperatives in Santa Fe Province, led by Cooperativa Apícola Granjera San Javier Ltda., has been formalised to coordinate honey exports. The group emerged from a provincial government call that invited apicultural cooperatives to join a joint export initiative, moving from an initial pool of eleven candidates through evaluation and regularisation. The exporters aim to streamline procurement, share certification and marketing tools, and meet regulatory requirements from bodies such as Senasa.
Group manager Romina Sudack said the coalition will also purchase inputs collectively and pursue new markets. Currently, about 75 % of Argentine bulk honey is shipped to the United States, while demand is rising in Europe and selected Arab nations. The cooperatives are also promoting domestic consumption, highlighting honey’s health benefits as a natural sugar alternative.
