Latin American governments launch initiatives to boost small-scale farmers and rural women
Peru's new Minister of Agricultural Development and Irrigation, Marco Vinelli Ruiz, announced a five‑year plan to transform family agriculture for the country's 2.1 million small producers. The strategy prioritises water access, technical assistance, credit, sanitary services, innovation and market integration, aiming to raise incomes and link producers to export chains.
In the Dominican Republic, the Ministry of Women and the Junta Agroempresarial Dominicana (JAD) signed a strategic collaboration to expand economic opportunities for rural women. The agreement will provide training, technical assistance, financing, innovation and market access to integrate women producers into agro‑value chains.
