Latin American literary fairs highlight independent publishers in Ecuador and California

The Universidad de las Artes hosted a four‑day book fair as part of the XXVII International Congress of Ecuadorianists, featuring seven stands where independent publishers such as Entrópica Editorial, Funes Editora, Cavilaciones, Sur Editorial and Editorial Blanca presented catalogues of contemporary Ecuadorian literature, poetry, essays and experimental works. Attendees could meet editors, explore new titles and purchase recent publications, underscoring the role of small presses in revitalising the country’s literary scene.

In California, the "Escritores Sin Fronteras" event at Fiesta Hall brought together dozens of Latina authors, including Cristina Martínez G., Angie Clemente and Camila Montenegro, to showcase their books, sign copies and discuss digital publishing tools. Organizer Martínez warned writers to vet editorial services to avoid scams and highlighted the growing opportunities for Latin American voices in the border region. The gathering was attended by National City mayor Ron Morrison, signalling local support for the initiative and hinting at a second‑generation program later this year.
