Latin American theater productions explore migration themes

Various theatrical productions exploring themes of migration and identity are scheduled for September in Lima and Saltillo.

In Lima, Liminal Teatro will present ‘Cartografías de una amor latinoamericano’, written and directed by César Ulloa Cuéllar. The play explores the relationship between two male migrants in a fictional Latin American city, addressing topics of human mobility, identity, and belonging. The production will have five performances at the Club de Teatro de Lima.

In Saltillo, the play ‘Nuestra Señora de las Nubes’ by Arístides Vargas will be staged at the Teatro Garnica. Directed by Chicha de la Peña, the production follows two exiles reflecting on their past. The five-show run aims to support the Casa del Migrante by collecting donations of non-perishable food and hygiene products, as well as selling souvenirs to benefit the institution.
