Latin American TV hosts face backlash over on‑air controversies

In Argentina, presenter Marley drew criticism for not publicly defending fellow host Florencia Peña amid a dispute involving Luzu TV. Figures such as Elizabeth Vernaci and Georgina Barbarossa commented on his neutrality, while Marley said he is mediating between Peña and producer Nico Occhiato and that his relationship with Peña remains strong.

In Mexico, television hosts Pedro Sola and Pati Chapoy were formally reported to the Mexico City prosecutor by the civil group Va por sus derechos. The complaint alleges that comments made on the program Ventaneando – in which Sola expressed a desire to "throw poisoned meat" at dogs and mentioned shooting pets in carriers – constitute apologia of animal cruelty. The Environmental and Territory Order Prosecutor’s Office (PAOT) condemned the remarks and highlighted legal protections for animals.
