Latin American Universities Launch Inclusive Education Strategy
The Escuela Superior de Administración Pública (ESAP) is supporting a new project titled “Inclusión educativa universitaria. Construcción de estrategia científico‑académica” that runs from 2023 to 2025 under the REDIPIES network. The initiative is coordinated by the Universidad Estatal Península de Santa Elena in Ecuador and brings together universities across Latin America.
The effort focuses on the pluri‑ethnic and multicultural realities of regions such as Nariño in Colombia, where indigenous, Afro‑descendant, LGBTIQ+, disabled and other groups face distinct barriers. It aims to move beyond simple enrollment targets toward full participation, retention, flexible pedagogy, accessibility, human‑rights‑based policies, and genuine representation for these communities within higher‑education institutions.
According to the project description, inclusion must be built “from the territory, with the territory and for the territory,” requiring differentiated policies that recognize diverse languages, memories and know‑how while ensuring dignified, non‑discriminatory treatment for all students.
