Latin America’s poultry output climbs 40% in 15 years, feed sector grows

The Latin American and Caribbean region produced 31.5 million tonnes of chicken meat in 2025, a 40.4 % increase since 2010 when output was 22.5 Mt. This growth gave the region 29.4 % of global chicken production and 57.6 % of the Americas’ total, reinforcing its role in global protein supply and trade. Exports reached about 5.74 million tonnes, accounting for 39.4 % of world chicken exports and 64.6 % of shipments from the continent, while domestic consumption was 27.4 Mt, roughly 41 kg per person per year.

In the same period, Latin America’s compound‑feed industry produced 204.4 million tonnes, 14.2 % of global output, with Brazil maintaining its position as the world’s third‑largest feed producer at 89.9 million tonnes in 2025 (a 2.8 % increase). Argentina contributed over 19 million tonnes. Brazil’s feed mix is dominated by broiler feed (37.9 million tonnes), reflecting strong domestic chicken consumption of 47.8 kg per capita, and also includes significant swine, cattle, layer, dairy, pet food and aquaculture segments.
