Latin music figures Gilda and Los Tigres del Norte receive cultural recognition

Cultural tributes and performances are highlighting the legacies of influential Latin music figures. In Argentina, a special event titled ‘Todo eso fuiste’ will honor the singer Gilda at the Teatro Plataforma Lavardén on October 23. In the United States, the Norteño group Los Tigres del Norte has performed for NPR’s Tiny Desk series. The performance serves as a recognition of the band’s role in documenting the migrant experience through traditional corridos such as ‘Jefe de Jefes’ and ‘La Jaula de Oro’, bringing their cultural and political relevance to a mainstream American platform.
