Latin Patriarchate School reopens in Gaza City
The Latin Patriarchate School in Gaza City has reopened for the 2026-2027 academic year, marking the first time educational services have been provided in the territory after a nearly three-year interruption caused by the conflict.
Approximately 1,005 students and 77 teachers have returned to the classrooms. Father Gabriel Romanelli, the parish priest of the Holy Family, described the reopening as a moment of “tears of joy” for the community. Despite significant shortages of furniture, school supplies, and pedagogical materials, the school remains the only active Christian educational institution currently operating in Gaza.
The reopening includes the establishment of a new building dedicated to kindergarten classes to support the local community.
