Latina and Terracina seek natural disaster status after heavy flooding
The municipalities of Latina and Terracina have approved resolutions to request that the Lazio Region recognize a state of natural disaster. This follows violent weather and intense rainfall on October 21 that struck the Agro Pontino area.
The flooding has caused significant damage to homes, commercial activities, agricultural businesses, and local infrastructure. In Latina, Mayor Matilde Celentano noted that the amount of rainfall was far beyond forecasts, equating to several months of precipitation falling in just a few hours.
Local administrations are urging citizens and businesses to document all damages to assist in the formal request for aid. A coordination meeting will be held to gather necessary documentation, identify priority interventions, and discuss future prevention measures.
