Latina approves 1.2 million euro renovation for Campo Coni

The municipal government of Latina has approved the planning guidelines for a 1.2 million euro renovation of the Campo Coni facility on via Botticelli. The project is funded by the Italian Ministry for Sport and Youth.

The renovation aims to modernize the facility, which was originally built in 1960 and last updated in 2004. Key improvements include the redevelopment of the athletics track, long jump and pole vault pits, and the adjustment of pits and embankments. The plan also features new platforms for shot put, discus, and hammer throw, including the installation of safety cages that meet current regulations. Additionally, the project will address lane markings, signage, and accessory structures to ensure the facility meets modern standards for athletes.

Sports Councilor Andrea Chiarato described the project as a strategic step toward returning a fully functional facility to the city, noting that the Campo Coni serves an estimated user base of over 70,000 people.
