Latina authorities seize illegal shisha bar equipment and contraband tobacco

Carabinieri NAS and the Agency of Customs and Monopolies (ADM) have shut down an unauthorized shisha bar located on the seafront in Latina. The operation was part of a national campaign titled ‘Tutela della salute dei non fumatori’ (Protection of non-smokers' health).

During the inspection, officials discovered an unauthorized storage area used for preparing and serving molasses and flavored tobacco. The establishment lacked the necessary permits to sell these products, which are subject to excise duties. Additionally, the operators could not provide documentation proving the legitimate origin of the tobacco.

As a result of the findings, which included the unauthorized sale of monopoly goods and the smuggling of foreign processed tobacco, authorities seized several hookahs, accessories, and tobacco products.
