Latina bar closed due to imminent risk of structural collapse
A bar in Latina, Italy, has been forcibly closed after authorities discovered it was at risk of collapsing. The issue was uncovered by the Nas (Carabinieri for Health Protection) during a routine hygiene inspection.
Technical assessments conducted by firefighters and municipal officials confirmed severe structural instability, including cracks in load-bearing walls and significant depressions in the flooring, likely caused by ground subsidence. These conditions posed a direct threat to public safety. Following the findings, the Mayor of Latina issued an urgent ordinance declaring the building uninhabitable, ordering its immediate evacuation and prohibiting access. The business's operations are suspended until the structure is fully reinforced and safety conditions are restored.
In a separate inspection in the same area, Nas officers also shuttered a barber shop that was performing unauthorized aesthetic treatments, such as facial hair removal, without the required permits.
