Latina beekeeper Valerio Piovesan dies in fatal electrical accident

Valerio Piovesan, a 78-year-old veteran beekeeper well-known in the Latina region, died following a domestic accident on Monday, September 7. The incident occurred in the garage of his family villa on Bassianese road, which houses his honey production laboratory and retail shop.

Preliminary investigations suggest Piovesan was electrocuted while using an immersion hydraulic pump. His son reported that the man was attempting to maintain the equipment in anticipation of heavy rains and potential flooding when the pump, which may have had an electrical short circuit, caused the fatal shock.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene, but medical personnel could only confirm his death. The Carabinieri and the Prosecutor's Office of Latina have launched an investigation to determine the exact circumstances of the tragedy and assess any potential liability.
