Latina council approves 2025 waste‑service budget, hires lifeguard firm

The municipal council of Latina approved the 2025 budget for the special waste‑management company ABC. The account closed with a profit of €153,216.97, of which €72,594.99 will be transferred to the legal reserve and €80,621.98 will fund the equipment and renewal fund for the company’s assets. Mayor Matilde Celentano highlighted the need for financial transparency, cost‑center accounting and continued investment in street‑cleaning and waste‑removal services.

After a negotiated tender for beach‑safety services ended without bids on 13 July, the municipality used a direct‑award procedure for urgency and appointed Leone Srl of San Felice Circeo to provide lifeguard patrols until September. The contract, signed by Alessandra Pacifico, head of the Department of Patrimony and Assets, covers up to ten posts, equipment, two external defibrillators and other safety gear, at a cost of €129,550.94 plus VAT, funded entirely with regional resources. Mayor Celentano said the move was necessary to protect public safety for the remainder of the summer season.
