Latina Hospital Faces Investigation Over Delayed Death Notifications
The health authority (ASL) of Latina has opened an internal audit after the family of Chiara Delle Cave complained that they were informed of her death at Santa Maria Goretti Hospital only a day after the event. The brother, Giovanni Delle Cave, filed a legal complaint, prompting the ASL to promise an investigation of communication procedures and to take corrective action if responsibility is found.
A second family reported a similar delay at the same hospital: the daughter of 84‑year‑old Marisa said they learned of her death only after several hours, despite being present in the facility. The family’s account, shared with media, suggests the issue may not be isolated. Both cases have raised concerns about the hospital’s protocol for notifying relatives of patient deaths, leading the ASL to commit to reviewing and improving those processes.
