Latina, Italy reports violent robbery and domestic assault case

On 4 August 2026, a couple of tourists in their sixties were walking near a minimarket in Miramare, Latina when a man of African origin grabbed the woman's bag and fled. The husband chased the thief, caught up with him and a violent struggle ensued. The woman was struck in the face with a strong punch, suffered a bleeding wound but was able to retrieve her bag; the assailant then abandoned the loot and escaped on foot. Police from the State mobile units collected witness statements and began a search, while emergency services treated the woman on‑site without hospitalisation.

In a separate incident in the same province, a 49‑year‑old man from Sabaudia repeatedly violated his house‑arrest conditions. In February he was arrested after assaulting his partner while intoxicated; later, while on domiciliary release, he was caught outside his home, resisted police and punched an officer, and again assaulted his partner in July. Following these violations, the Tribunal of Latina revoked his domiciliary measure and ordered his imprisonment, and he was taken to prison.
