Latina underwater research reveals potential Roman-era structures

Archaeological research conducted by Giuseppe Pastore, owner of Appeal Beach, has revealed potential Roman-era structures beneath the seabed near Latina, Italy. Using underwater surveys, historical research, and drone footage, investigators identified regular, smooth rock formations that may correspond to an ancient trackway linked to the Via Severiana, an imperial-era coastal road.

The investigations, which extended to the Torre Astura area, have also uncovered artifacts such as amphorae and anchors, as well as evidence of a Roman-era vessel. Beyond physical archaeology, the project aims to preserve the historical memory of the people who transformed the Pontine Plain through land reclamation and labor.
