Latino Civic Engagement Coalition launches to mobilize 5 million voters for 2026 U.S. midterms
Four of the nation’s largest Latino civic organizations—UnidosUS, the LULAC Institute, Mi Familia en Acción and the Latino Victory Foundation—have announced a nonpartisan partnership called the 2026 Latino Civic Engagement Coalition. The coalition will coordinate voter education, registration and outreach through 2028, targeting the fastest‑growing segment of the electorate.
The groups aim to contact more than five million Latino voters, register 250,000 new electors and conduct 3.5 million door‑to‑door visits, with a goal of raising Latino turnout by at least five percent in the 2026 midterm elections. Activities will span more than 40 states, with priority focus on Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Nevada, New Mexico, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Texas.
Latinos represent roughly 20 % of the U.S. population—about 68 million people—with an eligible voting‑age cohort of about 36.2 million and roughly one million turning 18 each year. UnidosUS president Janet Murguía emphasized that Latino voters are now a decisive factor in House and Senate contests. A recent UnidosUS poll of 3,000 Latino registered voters in California, Florida, Texas and Arizona underscored the need for early, sustained outreach.
