Latino voters show growing support for Democrats amid declining approval of Donald Trump

A new Pew Research Center survey reveals a significant shift in Latino voter sentiment in the United States ahead of the November 3 midterm elections. Approximately 51% of registered Latino voters support Democratic candidates for Congress, while 24% favor Republicans. The data shows a marked decline in support for Donald Trump, with 74% of Latino voters disapproving of his administration. While Trump achieved record Hispanic support in 2024, only 21% of this group currently approves of his management.

Economic concerns are the primary driver for this demographic, with 86% citing the economy as a critical factor for their vote. Other major priorities include healthcare (80%), education (75%), and democracy (69%). Additionally, 80% of respondents expressed deep concern regarding the costs of housing, energy, and food.

Immigration and enforcement policies also weigh heavily on the community. Reports indicate that during Trump’s second term, immigration agents have deported at least 590,000 people, with nearly 50,000 arrests occurring in July alone. Concerns regarding ICE enforcement have impacted the community, with 67% of Latino voters stating that current immigration enforcement has gone too far. Furthermore, 70% of respondents believe the administration's policies have been harmful to the Hispanic community, and 61% feel their living conditions have worsened over the past year.
