Latisana flooding: Funeral set for Antonietta Zamarian

Funeral services for 83-year-old Antonietta Zamarian will be held on Tuesday, September 15, at the parish church in San Michele al Tagliamento. Zamarian died on Thursday after becoming trapped in her vehicle in a flooded underpass on via Dietro la Chiesa in Latisana.

The Udine Prosecutor's Office is currently investigating the circumstances of the tragedy to determine the exact conditions under which the incident occurred. While the judiciary has authorized the funeral services and an autopsy is not currently planned, prosecutors are evaluating the need for further technical assessments.

Latisana Mayor Daniele Sette noted that the underpass had been marked with barriers by workers who had entered the area to ensure no people, bicycles, or animals were inside prior to the flooding. A Carabinieri officer, Demetrio De Riccardis, was discharged from the hospital after attempting to rescue the elderly woman during the emergency.
