LaToya Malcolm scholarship announced to honor late pageant contestant

A scholarship has been established to honor the memory of LaToya Malcolm, a former Miss Universe Jamaica contestant and the 2024 Miss Bikini Jamaica International titleholder. The LaToya Malcolm Scholarship for Resilience was announced by Delano Seiveright, Minister of State in the Ministry of Industry, Investment and Commerce, during Malcolm’s funeral service in Kingston, Jamaica.

The scholarship will provide $100,000 each to two high school students to support their educational development. Malcolm, who passed away suddenly at age 35 in July, was a prominent figure in the pageant and entertainment community, working as an actress, entertainer, and dance instructor.

During the service, mourners remembered Malcolm for her kindness and resilience, noting that she had persevered through personal loss to achieve her pageant titles. The Miss Universe Jamaica franchise and other community members have also issued tributes to honor her impact.
