Latrikunda German Alkalo denies issuing 13,000 voter attestations

Alhaji Omar M. O. Faal, the Alkalo of Latrikunda Yiringanya (German), has rejected allegations made by United Democratic Party (UDP) member Ya Kumba Jaiteh regarding the number of voter attestations issued during the 2026 supplementary registration exercise.

Faal stated that official records from the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) show only 132 attestations were provided, contradicting Jaiteh’s claim of 13,000. He noted that only two of these attestations have been challenged before the Kanifing Magistrates’ Revising Court, and a decision is still pending.

The Alkalo also addressed claims regarding his absence from court, clarifying that he traveled to the United Kingdom on August 26, 2026, and remains there. He denied social media reports suggesting he attended a political rally instead of a court appearance, asserting that such claims are false because he is currently out of the country.
