Latrobe road crash kills 15-year-old boy
A 15-year-old boy died at the scene following a head-on collision on Railton Road in Latrobe late on October 1. Police indicate the teenager, from Devonport, may have been driving a Holden Rodeo ute when it collided with a Mercedes Benz W164 traveling in the opposite direction.
Two other passengers in the Holden Rodeo, both 14-year-old boys from Devonport, sustained serious injuries. One was airlifted to Launceston General Hospital by Westpac Rescue Helicopter, while the other was taken to North West Regional Hospital by ambulance; both are reported to be in serious but stable condition.
The occupants of the Mercedes, a 61-year-old man and a 60-year-old woman from Aberdeen, sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The man was treated at the scene, while the woman was transported to North West Regional Hospital.
Railton Road was closed for approximately six hours for investigation. Police are preparing a report for the coroner and are requesting dash cam footage or any information from the public.
