Latter-day Saint Church invests $184M in global humanitarian initiative

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has announced a funding commitment of over US$65 million for a global humanitarian initiative. This brings the total investment in the program to more than $184 million over its first three years. The initiative, which involves seven humanitarian organizations, reports having improved the well-being of 52 million women and children across Africa and Asia, with active projects in 12 countries including Bangladesh, Cambodia, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ghana, Kenya, Mali, Nepal, Nigeria, Philippines, Senegal, Sierra Leone, and Zambia.

In other news, a BYU study indicates that while Latter-day Saint women generally report higher happiness levels than most Americans, women aged 30-45 are experiencing lower retention rates compared to previous generations. Analysts suggest this shift may be driven by changing societal assumptions regarding autonomy, institutional trust, and historical tradition.

Additionally, Chandler David Hendry, a 27-year-old podcaster known as ‘Chuck’ from the ‘Restored Truth’ social media channel, died following a car accident in Lehi, Utah. Hendry was known for exploring interfaith dialogue and Christian history.
