Latter-day Saint missionary force surpasses 90,000

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has reached a historic milestone, with its full-time missionary force surpassing 90,000 members serving worldwide. This represents the largest number of missionaries in the history of the faith.

A primary driver of this growth is the record number of young women serving missions. More than 30,000 sister missionaries are currently serving, marking the largest cohort of women in the Church’s history. This surge follows a November 2025 decision by the First Presidency allowing young women to begin full-time service at age 18.

The missionary force is currently distributed across more than 500 missions globally. President Dallin H. Oaks has described this period as a historic moment, noting that missionary work is reaching new heights due to the reinforcement of these 18-year-old sister missionaries.
