Cleveland Ohio Temple dedicated by Elder David A. Bednar

Elder David A. Bednar of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles dedicated the Cleveland Ohio Temple on Sunday, August 16, 2026. Located in the suburb of Independence, the temple is the 221st operating temple for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and will serve more than 12,000 members across the Cleveland, Akron, Hiram, and Kirtland stakes.

The dedication marks a significant return of an operating temple to northern Ohio, situated approximately 20 to 25 miles from the historic Kirtland Temple. During the ceremony, Elder Bednar noted the connection between the worldwide influence of the Kirtland Temple and the new Cleveland location.

On the same day, Church President Dallin H. Oaks dedicated the Belo Horizonte Brazil Temple, which serves as the Church’s 220th operating temple.
