Latteria Sociale Valtellina adopts PET bottles for milk to meet EU recycling targets

The Italian dairy cooperative Latteria Sociale Valtellina, based in Delebio (province of Sondrio), has started bottling its milk in PET containers. The new line uses 0.5‑litre and 1‑litre PET bottles for milk and 0.48‑litre PET bottles for kefir, produced in‑house with a rotary stretch‑blow moulder (EBS 4 K ERGON) supplied by SMI.

The cooperative chose RPET50, a PET material containing 50 % recycled content, exceeding the EU directive that will require at least 30 % recycled material in packaging by 2030. Internalising bottle production reduces transport costs and environmental impact while preserving product quality, supporting the company’s sustainability goals.
