Latvia and Lithuania celebrate Baltic Unity Day at border bridge

Latvians and Lithuanians will gather on the border bridge over the Mēmele river to celebrate Baltic Unity Day on September 22. This year, the traditional meeting will take place on the Lithuanian side, hosted by the residents of Germanišķi and Skaistkalne.

This marks the 11th time the two communities have celebrated together. The event includes a symbolic Baltic bonfire in Germanišķi park, speeches from local officials, and musical performances by various folklore ensembles and orchestras. Organizers emphasize that fostering friendship and neighborly relations is particularly important during times of geopolitical instability.
