Armenia defeats Latvia 2-0 in UEFA Nations League opener

Armenia defeated Latvia 2-0 in their UEFA Nations League Group C2 opener at the Vazgen Sargsyan Stadium in Yerevan. The victory places Armenia at the top of the group following their debut.

Georgii Harutyunyan opened the scoring in the 31st minute, heading the ball into the upper corner following a corner kick. Artur Gharibyan secured the win in the 75th minute with a goal scored on a counter-attack after a run by Zhirayr Shaghoyan.

Latvia saw several debuts during the match, including Denniss Cirkins and Markuss Strods in the starting lineup, while Oskars Viesties, Danils Patiļčuks, and Alberts Aleksanjans also made their debuts as substitutes. Latvian captain Antonijs Černomordijs marked his 50th appearance for the national team during the match.
