Latvia men's basketball team prepares for Slovenia friendly

The Latvian men's national basketball team is traveling to Slovenia for a friendly match scheduled for August 19. The team is currently managing a depleted roster due to injuries to Ojārs Siliņš and Toms Skuja, as well as Rolands Šulcs, who has joined his club, Rīga Zeļļi, for training but remains available if needed.

Latvian national team director Dairis Bertāns stated that no new players will be called up to replace those sidelined, noting that the coaching staff had already anticipated a shorter roster for the upcoming training period. To bolster the squad, Mārtiņš Kilups has been brought in, and Toms Leimanis has returned.

Following the match in Ljubljana, the team will return to Riga to face Ukraine in another friendly on August 23. These preparations lead into the 2027 World Cup qualification second round, where Latvia is scheduled to play Croatia on August 27 and Israel on August 30.
