The Latvian men's national volleyball team begins its European Championship campaign on Thursday in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. Their opening match in Group D is against the host nation, Romania, at the BT Arena.

Historically, the two teams are evenly matched, with Latvia and Romania each holding three wins in eight official meetings. Romania specifically selected Latvia as the opponent they wished to host in Cluj-Napoca for the tournament.

Following the match against Romania, Latvia is scheduled to face Germany, Olympic champions France, Switzerland, and Turkey. The top four teams from each group will advance to the round of 16 in Turin and Sofia. Kristaps Šmits will serve as the captain for the Latvian squad during this tournament.
