Cyprus defeats Latvia 2-1 with late comeback in Nations League

Cyprus secured a 2-1 comeback victory against Latvia in their UEFA Nations League C match in Nicosia. After Latvia took the lead in the 57th minute through Eduards Dašķevičs, Cyprus equalized via Ioannis Kosti in the 70th minute. Markus Edwards then scored the winning goal in the 93rd minute with a strike from outside the penalty area.

The victory marks Cyprus's second consecutive win in the tournament, bringing their total to seven points from four matches. They currently sit second in Group B, trailing Montenegro with ten points, while Armenia follows with four and Latvia remains at the bottom with one point. Cyprus faces critical upcoming matches against Armenia on November 12 and Montenegro on November 15.

Latvian head coach Paolo Nicolato expressed frustration following the loss, describing the defeat in the final seconds as the most painful way to lose a game. Latvia's recent campaign has seen them collect only one point from a possible twelve, highlighting ongoing struggles in goal scoring and consistency.
