Latvia begins early voting for 15th Saeima elections

Early voting for the 15th Saeima elections has commenced across Latvia. Voters can cast their ballots in storage at any of the 933 polling stations nationwide from September 28 through October 2. This period allows citizens to vote ahead of the main election day, which is scheduled for Saturday, October 3, when polling stations will be open from 8:00 to 20:00.

The Central Election Commission (CVK) has detailed specific time slots for early voting to ensure organized procedures. In Riga, initial reports indicate a calm start with some queues forming at polling stations located in shopping centers. While most locations reported smooth operations, minor technical difficulties were noted regarding the use of new mobile devices by staff.

Voters are reminded to bring a valid Latvian citizen's passport or identity card. Because Latvia is divided into five electoral districts—Riga, Vidzeme, Latgale, Kurzeme, and Zemgale—voters must be aware that casting a ballot in a different district will result in receiving the candidate lists for that specific region rather than their home district.
