Latvia police report multiple traffic accidents and violations

Recent police reports from the Kurzeme and Vidzeme regions of Latvia indicate a significant number of traffic incidents and driving violations over the past weekend.

In the Kurzeme region, 38 traffic accidents were recorded, resulting in five injuries. Notable incidents include a collision in Saldus where a driver failed to yield, an accident in Talsi where a Scania truck left the road, and a collision in Ventspils involving a Volkswagen and a Peugeot that injured four people. Authorities have initiated three criminal proceedings regarding driving under the influence.

In the Vidzeme region, 30 traffic accidents resulted in eight injuries and one fatality. A collision between a Citroen and a Mercedes-Benz in Madona municipality led to the death of a passenger. Additionally, a Toyota overturned in Gulbene municipality, involving three people. Police also issued 264 administrative decisions, including 150 for speeding and several cases of driving under the influence of alcohol.
