Latvia road construction and rally training cause traffic delays
Extensive road construction and rally training activities are causing significant traffic delays and closures across Latvia. Latvijas Valsts ceļi reports that active construction is ongoing at 52 different sections of the state road network, including work on ten bridges.
Major delays are expected on several routes. The Tīnūži–Koknese (P80) section between Kranciema quarry and the Accident Brigade park may require 45 minutes to traverse, while the Ilmāja–Priekule–Lithuanian border (P114) route faces delays of approximately 40 minutes. Other notable restrictions include speed limits on the Daugavpils highway, the Jelgava highway (A8), and the Vidzeme highway (A2).
In the Kurzeme region, two local roads—Rudbārži–Kalvene (V1275) and Turlava–Valtaiķi–Embūte (V1295)—will be completely closed on Friday, September 25, from 8:00 to 19:00 due to rally training sessions. Drivers are advised to use local roads or the Liepāja highway (A9) as alternatives. Authorities urge motorists to check current restrictions and follow signage to navigate these disruptions safely.
