Latvian basketball climbs FIBA ranking as VEF Riga signs Polish champion Ojar Silin

The rise overtook Greece and places the team behind Turkey (11th) and ahead of other European nations.

In club news, VEF Riga announced a two‑year contract with Polish league champion Ojar Silin. The 33‑year‑old forward, who helped Legia Warsaw win back‑to‑back Polish titles, joins the Latvian‑Estonian Basketball League side together with teammates Aigar Šķēlis and Marek Mejeri, aiming to boost the club’s performance.
