Latvian Drug Agency urges checking online drug register before pharmacy trips

The Latvian Drug Agency (ZVA) has urged residents to verify the availability of needed medicines in the online Drug Register before going to a pharmacy, especially for rarely available or specific drugs.

The Register now shows a green check mark next to medicines that are stocked in at least one pharmacy and a red cross when none are available. Information is updated once daily and includes data from major chains such as Apotheka, Benu, Euroaptieka, Latvijas and Mēness. Under Cabinet regulations effective 1 July 2026, large pharmacy owners must publish this information. The Register also provides a pharmacy map with addresses and contact details. When a medicine is unavailable, ZVA advises consulting a doctor or pharmacist and offers a portal for reporting supply interruptions.
