Latvian fathers share experiences with adoption and single parenthood

As part of the Ministry of Welfare's information campaign, “Give Children a Loving Family!”, personal accounts from fathers in Latvia highlight the diverse paths to parenthood, including adoption and single fatherhood.

Emīls Senkans and Vadims Geža shared their experiences with adoption. Both men noted that the decision was a long-term, carefully considered process rather than a sudden impulse. They described the emotional challenges of transitioning from the desire for biological children to embracing adoption after facing difficulties conceiving.

In a separate account, a father named Kristaps shared his experience of raising his daughter alone since she was 11 months old. He discussed the financial and logistical challenges faced during the 2008–2009 economic crisis, which led to him becoming a single parent while working from home in Latvia.
