Latvian media institutions announce literacy study and branding updates
The National Electronic Mass Media Council (NEPLP) will present a study titled “On the Media Literacy of the Population of Latvia” on October 27. The presentation, featuring media literacy expert Klinta Ločmele, will take place during UNESCO World Media Literacy and Information Week. The event will include a roundtable discussion focused on analyzing the study's findings and addressing the needs for promoting media literacy in Latvia.
Separately, Latvian Public Media (LSM) has updated its brand strategy, which has been reviewed by the Public Electronic Mass Media Council. The new strategy maintains the historical names of linear channels, including LTV1, LTV7, and various Latvian Radio stations (LR1, LR2, LR3 Klasika, and LR5). This approach aims to preserve brand heritage and audience recognition while developing a unified LSM brand system. LSM is also gradually introducing new content areas, such as “LSM Jaunieši” and “LSM Izklaide,” though the brand update does not imply changes to the organization's structure.
