Latvian Ministry of Agriculture honors ‘Sējējs 2026’ award winners

The Latvian Ministry of Agriculture held its 33rd annual ‘Sējējs 2026’ awards ceremony in Riga to honor excellence in the agricultural sector. The competition recognizes individuals and businesses that contribute to national food security and resilience against economic and environmental fluctuations.

Key award recipients include Professor Daina Jonkus from the Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies, who received the lifetime achievement award. Other notable winners include AS ‘Pampāļi’ for ‘Farm of the Year’, SIA ‘Skrīne’ for ‘Food Production Company of the Year’, and the Mārīte Mežiniece family for the ‘Family in the Countryside’ category.

Minister of Agriculture Uldis Augulis emphasized the importance of agriculture to national security, stating that a country's ability to feed its population is a vital component of independence.
