Latvian police rescue 96-year-old man lost in Aizkraukle forest

Latvian State Police successfully rescued a 96-year-old man who became lost in the forests of Aiviekste Parish, Aizkraukle Municipality. The man, born in 1930, had left his home without a phone and failed to return, prompting his relatives to alert authorities.

Search operations involved officers on foot and the use of a drone to navigate the difficult terrain. The forest area was particularly challenging due to marshy ground and fallen trees following a recent storm. The man was located approximately two kilometers from his residence, sitting near a tree close to a wet, swampy area. He was found in good health and was safely transported from the forest.
