Latvian political candidates address unwanted persons list and transit cargo

Baiba Braže, a candidate for the 15th Saeima and Foreign Minister, addressed the inclusion of Russian citizens on Latvia’s unwanted persons list. She clarified that such decisions are not individual political moves or election campaign tools, but are based on evaluations by Ministry of Foreign Affairs specialists and relevant state institutions following specific legal grounds.

Leonīds Loginovs, a candidate for the 15th Saeima and former administrator of the Riga Freeport, discussed the economic implications of Latvia rejecting transit cargo. He noted that diverted cargo is being rerouted to Russian ports, which provides financial support to the Russian state. Loginovs also touched upon various domestic issues, including the development of the Riga Freeport, the financial status of airBaltic, and the Rail Baltica project.
