Latvian political parties declare €2.8 million in campaign spending

Political organizations in Latvia have declared approximately 2.78 million euros in expenditures for pre-election campaigning during the 15th Saeima election cycle. The highest spenders include Apvienotais saraksts (AS), Zaļo un zemnieku savienība (ZZS), and Latvija pirmajā vietā (LPV).

Amīlija Raituma, head of the Political Organization Violations Investigation Division at the Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau (KNAB), noted that while campaigners are increasingly following regulations, a full assessment of legality can only be completed after parties submit their income and expenditure declarations by November 2.

During the election period, KNAB received 207 signals regarding potential violations of the Pre-election Campaigning Law. On election day alone, 59 signals were received, primarily concerning free communication on social media and unauthorized campaign materials in public spaces, such as on vehicles or in commercial locations.
