Latvian State Police chief suspends Jelgava officer over misconduct
A TV3 "Bez Tabu" investigation recorded a Jelgava police officer calling a crime victim, identified as Rait, and attempting to extract information about his case. The victim captured the call and complained that the officers used his personal data to pressure him.
Following the broadcast, State Police chief Armands Ruks ordered a repeat service check of the officers involved. One officer was dismissed from duty, another placed on leave, and a third received a formal reprimand. Ruks stated that "people who behave this way have no place in the State Police." The disciplinary measures were taken to address the alleged unethical and unacceptable conduct of the officers.
