Latvian U-18 women's basketball team reaches European quarterfinals

Latvia's under‑18 women's basketball team advanced to the quarter‑finals of the European Championship in Stockholm after a 54‑48 victory over Slovenia in the round of 16. The win was driven by standout performances from Mila Luzgina (17 points), Marta Ploriņa (11 points) and Ieva Vēvere (9 points), with contributions from Emija Gulbe and others.

The team, coached by Rudolf Rozītis and assisted by Mudīte Gūtmane, Edgars Ikstens and Ivars Ikstens, will face France in the quarter‑finals. In the group stage, Latvia finished third in Group D, beating Croatia, losing to Serbia and Poland. Preparations included six friendly matches in China, Israel and Germany, as well as Baltic‑region games.

The tournament, hosted in Stockholm, Sweden, marks the sixth time Latvia has reached the European "Top 8" and the second under coach Rozītis.
