Latvian utility companies announce heat energy tariff increases

Utility companies in Latvia are implementing heat energy tariff increases starting in October 2026.

Lielvārdes remte will increase its heat energy tariff by 17.6%, rising from 72.13 EUR to 84.8 EUR per MWh (excluding VAT). This adjustment, approved by the Public Utilities Commission, is driven by changes in purchased heat energy prices. The new rate is scheduled to remain in effect until June 30, 2027, after which it is expected to rise further to 90.18 EUR per MWh.

Gren Gulbene will see a 6.5% increase in its heat energy tariff starting October 1, moving to 81.08 EUR per MWh (excluding VAT). This change is attributed to fluctuations in fuel prices. Additionally, a further increase is planned for November 1, bringing the tariff to 84.72 EUR per MWh. The company noted that the November adjustment follows a revision of fuel cost calculations made since previous reports in August.
